Verbena bonariensis

Verbena bonariensis is a tall narrow plant with very few leaves, topped by bright lavender/purple flowers that appear during the summer months. It is great to bring height to an flower bed or border and works really well when planted with ornamental grasses. It is a butterfly magnet.

Verbena bonariensis will flower through to the Autumn months, once it is finsihed flowering, leave the stems for winter interest and to protect the plant over the winter months. Once you see new growth starting to appear, cut back the old foliage.; The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
