Saliva Amistad has strking purple flowers from Sumkmer right to through to  autumn.  While waiting on the flower buds to open, you have attractive blue, almost black buds. The petals on the Amistand have  a velvet like texture and it is a brilliant cut flower.  It is very popular with bees.

Salvia 'Amistad' ilikes a sunny, sheltered spot in well-drained soil. Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage flowers into mid-autumn. Mulch annually with well-rotted manure or garden compost. Don't cut back the flower stems in autumn but let them remain intact over winter, to protect the rootball and developing shoots from frost. Cut these back only after new growth has emerged in spring. Plants growing in colder regions may need additional winter protection.
