Salvia 'Amistad' ilikes a sunny, sheltered spot in well-drained soil. Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage flowers into mid-autumn. Mulch annually with well-rotted manure or garden compost. Don't cut back the flower stems in autumn but let them remain intact over winter, to protect the rootball and developing shoots from frost. Cut these back only after new growth has emerged in spring. Plants growing in colder regions may need additional winter protection.
