Ribes King Edward is a shrub that has an amazing scent. It will begin to flower in February and is seriously attractive to bees. The flowers are crimson pink and it is also known as a flowering currant, although it doesn’t produce any fruit.
Ribes is a deciduous shrub, that looses its leaves during the winter months. It can grow quite tall if allowed, but a hard pruning during the winter months will keep it in check.
It provides an early source of food for bees during a time when the temperature is just beginning to increase and they are on the hunt for food.
