Golden Gourmet Shallots have a mild taste and an excellent choice for pickling. Golden Gourmet are suitable for planting in Spring and harvesting from mid summer.
Plant 3cm deep and 12cm apart.
Make sure to keep the soil moist during the growing period and remove any weeds which will compete with the shallots for water and food.
They will be ready to harvest in late summer, early autumn when the leaves begin to die back .
Bend the leaves over and a few days later ease the shallots from the soil. A few days later again, lift them clear of the soil and leave on the surface to ripen. When dry, rub off loose skins and roots. Store in a cool, dry, frost-free place.
